Noussair Mazraoui need not be concerned about facing repercussions from FC Bayern Munich for his pro-Palestine Instagram posts regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas. FC Bayern officially confirmed on Friday morning that Mazraoui will continue to be part of the squad, albeit he is presently sidelined due to an injury sustained while representing the Moroccan national team.
Mazraoui had shared on Instagram, among other things, a post saying that the “oppressed brothers in Palestine” should “achieve victory” in the conflict with Israel.
“Noussair Mazraoui has credibly assured us that as a peace-loving person, he firmly rejects terror and war. He regrets if his posts have caused irritation,” said Bayern’s CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, adding, “FC Bayern condemns Hamas’ attack on Israel.” Mazraoui is quoted in the statement as saying he further condemns “any kind of terrorism and any terrorist organization.”
Bayern reiterated that it stands “by the side of the Jewish community of Germany and by the side of Israel; nothing justifies the murder of children and families.”
Furthermore, the club expressed its belief in soccer’s potential to promote cultural harmony, particularly during the most challenging times.
