North Idaho Cardinals beat Florida Southwestern State University Pirates 65-48
North Idaho College sophomore coach Nathan Covell was pleased with his team’s defensive performance in the second half, which helped Florida Southwestern State cut the deficit to 13 points.
Freshman Kendall Pickford scored 23 points, including eight 3-pointers.
Freshman Maddie Williamson posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
NIC will face the College of Southern Idaho in an unofficial game on Friday.
Lilac City Legends fall to North Idaho Cardinals, 83-115
Freshman guard Vaughn Weems came off the bench to score 18 points and three steals to lead the College of Northern Idaho.
Freshman Tyshawn Colvin also scored 18 points and was 11-of-12 from the free throw line.
North Idaho College will host the Gonzaga club team next Monday.
Three North Idaho College women’s soccer players earn All-East Region honors
Sophomore defender Solei Eliason, sophomore defender Camryn Pew and sophomore goalkeeper Casey Chavez were named to the All-East Region Team of the Year.
Cardinals sophomore forward Teresa Lezema, sophomore midfielder Marielle Stewart and freshman midfielder Cora Anderson earned honorable mention.
The All-Region selections will be invited to play in the NWCAA All-Star Game on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila.
